Abundance teaches yoga as a holistic approach for physical, mental and spiritual well-being and teaches tools and techniques to cope better with the stresses that life brings and find increased focus, build self-esteem and connect to yourself and the world around you.
1- Asana
Asana is the physical aspect of yoga. At the studio, we have different levels of asanas (yoga poses) to suit each and everyone. We believe it is through movement that you can enhance your inner work . If your body is constantly tired or in pain, it is difficult to focus on tasks or work on mental stability, hence always move then relax. Energy has to move. If it is stagnant, metabolism gets sluggish and then one will always feel drained and tired. Poses are designed in such a way that various groups of muscles are being worked, all internal organs massaged and the Spinal column is very important in yoga. During asana, we move the spine in numerous angles.
2- Pranayama
Pranayama is the science of breath. It's a main component in yoga, an exercise for physical and mental wellness. In Sanskrit, “Prana” means life energy, and “Yama” means control. The practice of pranayama involves breathing exercises. Prana is your life force, your vitality. At Abundance home, we teach different types of pranayama to help increase your vitality and energy. It’s a slow, step-by-step process.
3- Shavasana
Shavasana is a corpse position which always comes at the end of the class. First we move our bodies to unlock the stagnant energy in it. Movement complements the Shavasana (relaxation) state.
Shavasana comes last as we adopt an awaken state in a relaxed state of mind. That combination is beautiful.
The result of this entire flow would be a calmer nervous system, increased immunity, reduced headache, fatigue and anxiety.
4- Mantra
Chanting or Mantra, originates from Man (Mind) and Tra (Transcend), a word or sound that is repeated to aid concentration in meditation. At Abundance, we chant mantras every Tuesday for 20 minutes. Each mantra has a corresponding effect on our emotions and wellbeing. It brings the mind to one focus point with a goal of transcendence. We believe that many things that are done repeatedly bring change in our lives.
